The Man, the Myth, the Lobsterman
Meet Mark Lowe, Founder/CEO of Lobster Made Easy, a seasoned and visionary entrepreneur with a passion to create new and disruptive products that make life easier for people. Mark conceived of the original Lobster Made Easy Gourmet product in 2013 but kept the idea aside for a few years while working on other inventions aimed at disrupting the seafood value chain.
Mark and his team developed “smart lobster traps” that contain sensors which tell fishermen, while they are still on dry land, whether there is enough product in their traps to justify going out to sea to harvest them, helping them to make saving on fuel and time. |
Love at first bite!
On a cold snowy day in February, Mark stopped at his local grocery store and purchased some lobsters to surprise his wife, Corinna, with a romantic seafood dinner. Sometime amongst the battle of trying to get the live lobster prepared, Corinna appeared home earlier than expected. Although Corinna did appreciate the thought behind the romantic gesture, there was no way she was going to allow Mark to boil those live lobsters in her kitchen (apparently she could foresee the future mess her kitchen would be in and the resulting lingering odour throughout the house). Corinna introduced Mark to the patio deck and said that he was more than welcome to boil the lobster outside on the bbq!
Like any good husband (Mark could also foresee the future of sleeping on the couch if he didn't comply), he took the lobsters and pot outside in the blowing snow and howling wind. Standing there shivering, trying to get the water to boil, Mark weighed his options. On one hand Mark surely loved his seafood and didn't want to give up the luxury of having that fantastic Atlantic lobster, on the other hand Mark didn't want to give up his place in the bedroom or the love of his wife for his desire to enjoy that delicious lobster. Mark faced a serious dilemma and needed a solution fast! That evening Mark sat down at his desk and started to "Think outside the Pot".
Mark agreed that boiling live lobster was indeed archaic, he thought after all you don't go to your grocery store and buy a live chicken to take home and prepare for dinner so why would we do this to seafood? After various trials and experiments, he invented the solution and "Lobster Made Easy" was born.

Mark promptly demonstrated the product to Corinna; it was a hit. Mark could now enjoy the company of his wife and his lobster in the kitchen at the same time! This true story had the potential to end tragically, and yet it ended up positively. It just goes to prove that the love of lobster truly has the power to conquer all.
